& BEHIND the SCENES in HOLLYWOOD

      By HARRISON CARROLL

HOLLYWOOD – The privileged few who

have seen all or glimpses of Charlie Chaplin‘s new picture

are unanimous that it is his best. They also report

Chester Conklin, old-time comedian of the Sennett studio,

is going to make a big hit with his performance.

Providing, of course, that too many of his scenes aren‘t

sheared in compressing the comedy to the

proper footage.

Charlie still seeks a title for his latest opus. „The Waif“,

„City Waifs“, „Street Waifs“ have been considered

at one time or another and the chances are the final choice

will contain the word „waif“ in some combination.

Predictions as to the finishing date of the film vary from

June until the millennium.

All are impressed by the production value Charlie has

worked into the picture and his increased attention

to photography. Audiences, the say, will have to read their

own symbolism, if any, into the picture.

„They will make the world laugh again“

Editorial content. „By Louella O. Parsons

„EIGHTEEN YEARS ago Charlie Chaplin and Chester

Conklin were Keystone players doing the best they

could in Mack Sennett‘s rough and tumble comedies. Today

they are together again at Charlie‘s studio.

Chester, who has had a rather tough time since talkies

put his famous walrus mustache and his type

of comedy at a disadvantage, was chosen by Charlie

for one of the principal roles in this coming

comedy and the two of them are so funny that they will

make the world laugh again.“
