Charlie is pretty bewildered in this picture of modern
efficiency. Modern efficiency, however, is old stuff to us weavers
up at the Alexander Smith plant. In the course of a year,
we make thousands and thousands of tests of dyes, wools and
other raw materials with the result that our carpets
stand up under all sorts of abuse. Which is one reason
you find them in so many theatres.

through United Artists, is set for its Broadway premiere
at the Rivoli, either on Jan. 13 or Jan. 25. United Artists control
the house, which George Skouras operates. Policy
will be a grind at 99 cents top.

at the Rivoli has been set by United Artists for the
night of Jan. 16. It will be a gala reserved-seat opening,
to be followed next day by the continuous showings.
Chaplin and Paulette Goddard may come on from the Coast
for the event. The Rivoli may be closed for several
days before the opening.
