appearance in Modern Times, at the Rivoli. Again the question
of whether or not the world‘s most beloved comedian
can survive the advent of spoken dialogue in pictures will

„Years ago, I saw a sample of Mr. Chaplin‘s handwriting
which was full of heavy, slashing strokes. Judging
by the sample I have now, it would seem that he has become
more disciplined and refined. I hope not too refined, for
it was his rich, earthy quality which made him understandable
in any language. His appeal is so directly to the senses
