these days, as exploitation stunts like this one attest.

The plane shown high above New York‘s ragged skyline

is an autogiro, and it trails a banner advertising

United Artists‘ „Sky Devils,“ for its showing at the Rivoli theatre.

The banner was 200 feet long and 20 feet wide.

„All records for the house were broken“

Editorial content. „Chaplin Film Has Sensational Draw

      Sensational, standee business marked the opening day

of Modern Times, Charlie Chaplin picture, at the

Rivoli, New York, yesterday, following its premiere showing

the previous night. All records for the house were broken,

it was stated.

      The house is operating on a policy of 11 shows a day,

stated John Wright, managing director, with one hour

and 43 minutes devoted to each show. The feature runs 87

minutes and is preceded by a newsreel and a cartoon.

During the run, the Rivoli begins its grind at 9:30 A. M. and closes

at 3:30 A. M., stated Wright.

      Operating with 2,100 seats, the house is using the following

scale: 40 cents to 1 P.M., 75 cents to 6 P.M. and 99 cents

thereafter to closing.“ (...)

      Modern Times world premiere is in New York Feb. 5, 1936

      at the Rivoli Theatre.
