Chaplin‘s „Modern Times“ is rolling up heavy grosses in both
New York and Philadelphia. Rivoli (N. Y.) reported $70,000
for the first week, while Erlanger (Phila.) was only house in town
to do stand-out business Sunday.

With $110,000 in the till for the first 12 days, „Modern Times“
is expected to chalk up a two-week gross of about
$125,000 at the Rivoli. The first week‘s take was $65,000.
The first five days of the second stanza grossed
slightly under the same period of the opening.

„Modern Times“ ended a six-weeks run at the Rivoli last
night with a total take of $217,000. The first week‘s
gross tallied $65,000; the second, $50,000; the third, $42,000;
the fourth, $25,000; the fifth, $20,000; the final week,
$15,000.

(4th week). The high prices of 75 from 1 to 6 p. m.
all over the house and 99c from there on may be cutting
this one‘s top chances down. This week (3rd) ending
tonight (Wed.) probably not more than than $27,000. Third week
backed up to $35,000, final day of that week being
the first day of Lent when all houses suffered. Stays here
two more weeks for total of six, with Loew circuit
clamoring for picture.

With the Loew circuit clamoring for the Chaplin picture,
„Modern Times“ its original run of 10 weeks at the
Rivoli, N. Y., will be reduced to six. The Loew houses will
start the picture almost pronto thereafter. „Times“
ends its fourth week tonight (Wednesday).

by lengths. Its second week ending tonight may total
up to $60,000. The first seven days ending on Lincoln‘s birthday

Some biz! The bad weather streak is taking its toll here
as elsewhere, but even after nicking chances Chaplin is still
