„for 3 Months“
SINGAPORE, Straits Settlements, March 18. – (AP) –
Charles Chaplin arrived here from Shanghai today
with his leading lady, Paulette Goddard, and announced
that he intended to „hang about this part of the world
for three months.“ Neither he nor Miss Goddard would confirm
or deny reports that they planned to marry here after
disembarking from the steamer Suwa Maru. The registrar
requires proof of eligibility in the event of a marriage
application. Chaplin reserved four seats in an air liner leaving
here here for Java.
