      LOS ANGELES, Cal., Jan. 31 – Critic today were loud

in their praise of City Lights, the first picture which

Charlie Chaplin, screen comedian, has made in two years.

      The picture opened at the new Los Angeles

theater and it was a gala event.

      Chaplin‘s personal guests included Prof. Albert Einstein,

noted German scientist, and a galaxy of famous

actors and actresses.“

      January 30, 1931 at the Los Angeles Theatre.
