Chaplin in „City Lights“
Cugat‘s remarkable caricature of Charlie Chaplin

his latest picture, which marks the opening of the new Los
Angeles Theater on Friday.

„The Chaplin-demanded terms“
Editorial content. „Publix Fears to Set Dangerous
For Chaplin Silent
Chicago, Feb. 3.
It looks like Publix will not be able to get together with
Chaplin for City Lights, with Chaplin already signifying
his choice for independent spots throughout the midwest.
In Chicago it is likely the picture will go into the
Woods on a straight 50-50 split, the Chaplin-demanded
terms.
Publix is plenty anxious to have the picture for its loop
run here, but is afraid to give Chaplin the extra 10
per cent he demands. Publix fears if, acceding to Chaplin‘s
demands, Sam Goldwyn, Pickford and Fairbanks will
make similar terms for their films.“
