& During the summer, the Chaplin Studio buildings

were moved back 15 feet for the widening

of La Brea Avenue – Los Angeles, 1929, Jim Henson Company

                                 Hollywood, July 30.

      Production on Charles Chaplin‘s „City Lights,“ in which

everybody will talk except Chaplin, has been held

up temporarily. Steam shovels working on the widening

of la Brea avenue, on which the Chaplin studio

is located, are making so much noise it interferes with the

recording. Chaplin is using the interim to do some

revamping of the plot at his home.

& Chaplin Temperamental Again

      The clangor of the steam shovel and the shouts of workmen

busy widening La Brea avenue near his studio have

so disturbed Charles Chaplin that further work on his new

production „CiTy Lights“ is still held in abeyance. The

temperamental Mr. Chaplin, who oftentimes cannot work even

when all is quiet about his workshop, is reported to be

busy at home on further ramifications of the plot of „City Lights,“

still reputed to come forth as a silent.

on his current comedy, City Lights. This time

the trouble is attributed to the noise of steam shovels at work

widening the street outside of his studio, and Charlie

will wait until the contractors get through

with their noise before going on with the picture.

      Because of city requirements to carry out the widening

of La Brea Avenue, reconstructing of the Charlie Chaplin Studios

was started this week.“ (...)

      „Chaplin is at present engaged in the making of City

Lights, but there will be no interruption in his work during the

reconstruction operation, it is stated.“
