A deal was closed this week for the release
of United Artists pictures through the Paramount Famous-Lasky,
it is reported.
The deal is not in any respect a merger,
Jos. M. Schenck announcing that the contract merely applies
to the release of United Artists pictures through the
Paramount. Paramount will release pictures with such stars
as Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Charles Chaplin,
Norma Talmadge, Gloria Swanson and D. W. Griffith and
Samuel Goldwyn productions.
According to Schenck, the Paramount organization
does not become a stockholder in United Artists but merely
the distributor of its pictures.“ (...)
