Charlie Chaplin was one, right along; but it was a long time

before we found it out. Charlie had been amusing

the small boys of the world for years before a New York

newspaper writer and a famous stage actress

declared that he was an artiste – with an e; don‘t forget

that e. The papers and magazines began to yell

,Genius!‘ at Charlie; but it was all right because the small boys

never knew the difference; and even if they had,

they would never have held it against Charlie.“ (...)
