„Town Talk“

Editorial content. „It‘s the FILM

Argue against this if you can:

The Circus grossed $36,735 here in New York in 19 shows, Saturday and Sunday included. The program consists

of an overture, a brief prologue flash of circus animals doing

their stuff under the big top – for which Joe Plunkett

rates a decoration – and the picture.

That‘s all. You can‘t deny that the picture is the thing

in face of such business. Give some of the show

to ‘em on the stage – nobody disputes the showmanship

of that – but the main kick of the bill by every night

should be on celluloid.

he has given the exhibitor and the public exactly

what they want to see him in. That‘s why the picture is a pip.

He even throws a pie in it!“ (...)
