Now that Charlie has left on the first lap of his trip
to Europe, Lita Gray Chaplin has seemingly secluded herself
again. For a while she and Charlie were extensively
entertained by Mary and Doug, Marion Davies, the Talmadges,
and others. Maybe little Charles, Jr., is taking too much
of her time. Or maybe Lita doesn‘t care to go around without
Charlie.
Just a few days before he left for New York, I saw
the Chaplins motoring along Sunset Boulevard. Charlie was
driving his blue roadster and he and Lita were quite
chummily alone except for a chauffeur marooned out over
the tail light.“ (...)
