„Alexander Lichtman is the new president of United Artists,
succeeding Joseph M. Schenck, who, two weeks ago,
withdrew from the corporation with Darryl Zanuck when the
two transferred their 20th Century Pictures from
United Artists to Fox Films.
Announcement of Mr. Lichtman‘s elevation to the
presidency came Wednesday afternoon in a statement signed
by Mary Pickford, Charles Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks
and Samuel Goldwyn, representing four-sixths of the ownership.
Formal Election June 25
The formal election will not take place until the directors
