Rites Simple and Orderly

      For Late Fatty Arbuckle

Veterans of stage and screen who knew Fatty Arbuckle

in the days before tragedy toppled his career joined

with Broadway newcomers yesterday in bidding farewell

to the plump funny man of silent pictures.

The services for Roscoe Conklin Arbuckle were simple

and without disorder, a marked contrast to the funeral

of Rudolph Valentino, which was held in the same place, the

Campbell Funeral Church at 66th St. and Broadway.

      Flowers From Notables.

There were flowers from Charlie Chaplin,

from Joe Schenck, Billy Seaman, the stage crew of Warner

Brothers und Leo Carillo, film villain.

Like pilgrims arriving at a shrine, people come from

all parts of the world to Charlie Chaplin‘s gate.“ (...)

„He arises early and works out the schedule for the day,

and then, to keep himself fit, he often runs from

his home to the studio – a distance of five miles.“ (...)
